Dr. Catherine Conlon
Dr Catherine Conlon is a Senior Medical Officer with the HSE in Cork; with special interests in health protection, obesity, nutrition, sustainability, and social /commercial determinants of health.
The talk will discuss the consumerist response to food and why the management of obesity is focused on indirectly manipulating our gut and brain to alter our response to a profit-driven, highly processed global food market rather than focusing on fixing the food market directly to provide profitable food within the parameters of health, equity, and sustainability.
Michael Darragh Macauley, Sanctuary Runners and Inclusion Health
Eight-time All-Ireland winner Michael Darragh Macauley has recently joined Sanctuary Runners as CEO. A leader on the field of play, Michael Darragh also excelled in his work off the field with the North East Inner City in Dublin, where he focused on building communities, bringing people of all different backgrounds together, treating people with respect and using sport to break down barriers to community integration.
Prof Norah Campbell - Commercial Determinants of Health
Prof. Norah Campbell is an Associate Professor of Marketing at Trinity Business School and a Fellow of Trinity College Dublin. Her research is in the commercial determinants of health, identifying and measuring how business activities—supply chain, taxation, lobbying, marketing, product design, and public relations—can impact the population's health. Her work asks where personal responsibility ends, and corporate responsibility begins.
Professor Anne Hickey, RCSI – Lifestyle Medicine education in RCSI
Professor Hickey is a health psychologist and professor of psychology at the Department of Health Psychology, RCSI. She is involved in coordinating and teaching health psychology to health professionals at undergraduate and postgraduate level, including medical, physiotherapy and pharmacy students. Professor Hickey is Deputy Dean for Positive Education at RCSI. This role involves educational transformation to include principles of positive psychology at all levels in RCSI.

Dr Sabrina Dekker, Dublin City Council – A healthy built environment
Dr. Sabrina Dekker is Dublin City Council’s Climate Action Coordinator, responsible for the implementation of Dublin City Council’s Climate Change Action Plan 2019-2024. She holds a PhD in Environmental Policy from School of Architecture, Planning and Environmental Policy at University College Dublin. She is the author of Cities Leading Climate Action - Urban Policy and Planning.
·Professor Suzanne McDonough, RCSI – Physical Activity and mental health
Professor Suzanne McDonough is a Professor and Head of RCSI School of Physiotherapy and a visiting Professor with the University of Southampton. Suzanne obtained her undergraduate degree in physiotherapy at University College Dublin (UCD) in 1989; was awarded her PhD in neurophysiology from Newcastle University, UK, in 1995; and a higher diploma in healthcare (acupuncture) in 2002 from UCD. Professor McDonough has over a decade of experience as Professor of Health and Rehabilitation at Ulster University prior to her appointment at RCSI. During her time there, she played a lead role in developing research capacity amongst physiotherapists and other allied health professionals, both nationally and internationally. Suzanne has successfully supervised 30 PhD students to date.
Dr Mary Butler, APC Microbiome Ireland UCC – The microbiome and mental health
Mr Motty Varghese, Respiratory and Sleep Physiologist – Sleep and Mental Health
Motty Varghese is a Sleep and Respiratory Physiologist and worked at St James's Hospital, Dublin for 15 years. He now dedicates his time to Sleep Therapy Clinic as a Sleep Physiologist and Behavioural Sleep therapist where he offers therapy for Insomnia and Circadian rhythm disorders. Motty is licensed by the Board of Registered Polysomnography Technologists in the USA and he also holds a mini-fellowship in Behavioural Sleep Medicine from Perelman School of Medicine, Univ. Of Pennsylvania. He also attended training programs at the Circadian and Neuroscience Institute at the University of Oxford. His research interests are in Sleep diagnostics, and he has presented at the European Respiratory Society and Irish Thoracic Society meetings. Motty has contributed frequently to the Irish print, radio, and visual media.
